Areas Grey Files are deeper research-led reads for people who want to go beyond the public project note.
They may include Lead Packs, Case Files and Expedition Reports — each built to separate what is known, what is possible, and what still needs investigating.
They are designed for readers who want more than a short public note: the source trail, the context, the evidence, the uncertainty, and the questions still left open.
Not every Areas Grey project becomes a File. Some remain active research. Some become articles, books, expedition notes or collaborations. When a project is strong enough for deeper reader treatment, it may become a Lead Pack, Case File or Expedition Report.
Lead Packs are entry-level research briefings for unresolved leads, lost places, legends and historical questions.
They introduce the story, source trail, known context, uncertainty and next steps.
Case Files are deeper investigations where a lead has enough substance for fuller analysis.
They may include stronger source review, competing interpretations, timelines, maps and an Areas Grey assessment.
Expedition Reports are field-led research files created when a question has moved into the landscape.
They connect the lead, preparation, field observations, findings, lessons and remaining questions.
Projects are the investigations, expeditions, collaborations and public work on the Areas Grey board.
Files are the deeper reader products created from selected projects.
A project may begin as a map pin, a public note, an article, a field visit, a collaboration or an active research thread. If the evidence, story and public value justify it, that project may later become a Lead Pack, Case File or Expedition Report.
The Areas Grey Files store is being prepared.
The first files will be released once they are ready for public use.
